Inspiration: 

I lived close to the Delft mill "De Roos" ["The Rose", but you might have guessed...] for most of my youth. The last of the mills that used to be part of the city wall around Delft. From my bedroom I could see the windmill sails; not the entire mill, for that I had to go outside to the square in front of our house. It is not surprising that the mill would be included in one of the Delft Blue Crimes stories.
